FAQ's

What there is to know about cub scouts….

TheBoy Scouts of America is one of the nation’s largest and most prominentvalues-based youth development organizations. The BSA provides aprogram for young people that builds character, trains them in theresponsibilities of participating citizenship, and develops personalfitness.

For more than a century, the BSA has helped build the future leaders of this country by combining educational activities and lifelong values with fun. The Boys Scouts of America believes – and, through over a century of experience, knows – that helping youth is a key to building a more conscientious, responsible, and productive society.

Frequently Asked Questions?

Q: How much does it cost?

A: Annualregistration costs are $33 minus $2.75 for every month. Our Pack collects$8 a month dues for the purchase of program materials and for awards that they will earn.

Q: How often do we do activities?

A: Your den will meet 3-4 times a month. These den meetings will be coordinated by your scout’s den leader. Once a month all dens gather for a Pack Meeting where we will all have fun as a group. We also go on Pack Outings throughout the months such as field trips, camping, etc.  For a quick look you can follow us on Facebook at https://www.facebook.com/groups/pack5239/events/

Q: So I’ve joined, what do we need to do next?
A: Attached to this page below is the Annual Medical & Health Forms A&B. These forms need to be filled out and returned to the Pack ASAP. The A form gives medical personnel authorization to treat your scout in the event of an emergency. The B form gives emergency medical personnel a brief medical history of the scout in the event that an emergency occurs. We require one of these forms for each member of the family that will be in attendance at any scouting event to include den meetings. Also with these forms, we ask to have copies of medical insurance cards for our records. Be assured, all of this information will remain secured and confidential.
Also attached is the Family Talent Survey. This survey assists us in getting to know your family’s special talents that you have. Please return it ASAP as well.

Q: What do I need to know about the Cub Scout Uniform?
A: While uniforming is a method to achieve the aims and goals of Cub Scouting, it is not a requirement that will prevent your scout from participating in activities. The complete uniform is illustrated at http://www.bsauniforms.org. The uniform items can have a bit of sticker shock attached to them, so feel free to Start with the uniform shirt and then get the rest of the uniform items at your convenience.  When buying the shirt please be advised we will provide you with the Council shoulder rocker, pack number and Scout crest upon presenting to us at your den meeting your new uniform shirt.
The first item that we ask all families to purchase is the Handbook for the scouts respective rank in Cub Scouting.

If you current live in the immediate vicinity you can pick up all the scouting items at the Scoutshop store located at 10876 Myhre Pl NW #116, Silverdale, WA

Q: My family is currently experiencing financial hardship. Can we still participate?
A: Absolutely! If your family is experiencing financial difficulties, please let one of the pack leadership know. We can work with any situation. Our priority is ensuring that every scout has the same opportunity to have fun and learn the important life lessons that tomorrow’s leaders need!

A Scout is never taken by surprise; he knows what to do when anything unexpected happens.Lord Robert Baden-Powell

Declaration of Religious Principle

"The Boy Scouts of America maintains that no member can grow into the best kind of citizen without recognizing an obligation to God and, therefore, recognizes the religious element in the training of the member, but it is absolutely nonsectarian in its attitude toward that religious training. Its policy is that the home and organization or group with which the member is connected shall give definite attention to religious life. Only persons willing to subscribe to these precepts of the Declaration of Religious Principle and to the Bylaws and codes of the Boy Scouts of America shall be entitled to certificates of membership."

While we believe in a duty to God, Scouting does not prefer any one religion over another, nor does it discourage a Scout and his family from freely practicing their chosen faith according to their conscience. In fact, a Cub Scout may even earn the religious emblem for his faith as a Scouting award! Please visit http://www.scouting.org/scoutsource/Awards/ReligiousAwards.aspx for more information.
